Psychotherapy

Child Therapy

Children communicate through play and respond well to consistency. Let me show you how to help your child when talking doesn’t work. While they do this work in therapy, you can build a structured routine at home to help change their behavior using parenting strategies.

Teen Therapy

Adolescence is a special time which challenges both the young person and the parent. Let me help you both navigate the tricky waters of supporting the young person’s developmental needs (individuality & time with peers) in a safe way.

Astrological Therapy

Astrology and psychology together can give you a unique perspective on your path and personal growth. This ancient discipline has been examined and used by the esteemed psychoanalyst Carl Jung, who said, “Astrology represents the sum of all psychological knowledge of antiquity.”

How To Groups

If you are interested in learning new skills to improve your relationship to yourself and others, I offer types of groups that explain practical skills for improving communication, building trust and self-confidence.

Teen Groups

Teens have a natural developmental affinity for working in peer groups. This is a context in which they can process stressors and traumas, learn better coping skills and make connections with other teens in a healthy environment.

Depth Groups

In this context you can process your experience in symbolic ways that are more far reaching then your ego consciousness can take you. These groups include classes like Dreamwork and Art Process.

I use an integrated approach, which is very flexible and inclusive of my behavioral and psychodynamic training. The point of this is to tailor interventions to your individual needs and style.

“You’re the only therapist my daughter has been willing to talk to, you’ve really helped us bridge some issues, she has agreed to come to us when she needs help now.”

– Father of a 14 year old adolescent female struggling with suicidal thoughts.

“Thank you for everything you’ve done for my daughter. She’s made great improvements since she began working with you and she has learned a lot. I’m more comfortable with her being out on her own now.”

– Mother of a young adult living independently with a Borderline Personality Disorder diagnosis.

“You’re the first person that’s given me something I can actually use instead of hurting myself.”

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does therapy last?

The length of therapy and the frequency of attendance that will help you depends on you as an individual, what you are processing, what you want to achieve, and how much work you put into it. Therapy is usually once a week for 3 to 6 months for mild to moderate problems, 6 months to 1 year for moderate to severe problems and 1 year or more for severe issues that require more long term treatment to effect significant change. I will make my recommendation when we meet, but ultimately the choice is up to you. I am just a guide, you’re the one does the work.

Does play therapy really work?

Absolutely. Children communicate through play and gain a sense of control they don’t experience in a world run by adults. In this safe context, they can freely express their emotions. Observing and engaging in this gives me the opportunity to better understand their experience and provide effective coping strategies to foster emotional regulation skills.
